Suppressing Court Records on Government Sites

Background

  • Client B is a successful business owner who has spent the last 25 years creating a name for himself in commercial roofing.
  • Client B was being defined online by several government and legal sites hosting court documents, which overshadowed his extensive business experience.
  • Reputation Resolutions was engaged to help Client B take control of the first page of Google search results for his name.

Problem

  • When potential customers and business partners searched for Client B online, negative links (government or legal sites) appeared on the first page of Google hosting court records for a lawsuit that was dismissed in 2010. Government sites have a high domain authority or level of “trust” with Google, and as a result, rank highly in search results.
  • Research has indicated that over 90% of all people will “Google” a company or person prior to working with them, and that just 1 negative link ranking in Google for your brand name can cost your business up to 22% of yearly revenue (with this number increasing based on the number of negative links). Client B was likely losing out on business opportunities as a result of the court records ranking prominently on page 1 of Google.
  • At the time of the initial engagement, Client B did not have a web presence. He had developed his businesses based on personal relationships and providing exceptional customer service. We needed to create an online brand that aligned him with his entrepreneurial ventures and business ethos.

Solution

  • Our team helped Client B define his personal and professional brand by crafting custom biographies and building high-quality web properties (clientname.com) that reflected his background and experience.
  • We have a database of over 600+ websites we leverage that are known to rank highly in search results to suppress and bury negative search results as quickly as possible. We consistently created and published content to help Client B establish and maintain relevance and demonstrate thought-leadership in his field.
  • Quality content takes time to start appearing on the first page, since Google’s algorithms need to gather enough data to determine its worth. To expedite this process, we leveraged our network of thousands of searchers around the United States to drive “engagement metrics.” Generally speaking, the more clicks a link gets over time from searchers, the higher the link will rank in search results.
  • The web properties we created increased in ranking, eventually overtaking the first page of Google search results, which in turn suppressed the negative links.

Results

By the end of our campaign, we were controlling 10 positive/neutral links on page one of Google as a result of our effortsAll the negative links were suppressed to page 2 of Google or beyond.

We pushed the damaging court records from position #13 when we started, to position #41.

Testimonial

“Reputation Resolutions has moved the disparaging court records from the first page of Google. All I can say is thanks and hopefully their fine work will continue its regression to the 3rd page. Right now, I am really glad I chose Reputation Resolutions.”
